VW light commercial body repair in Nottingham by Scratchmaster.
This VW van has been reversed over a concrete bollard damaging the sill sections and side sliding door.
Neither panel is repairable so new, genuine, VW parts are ordered.
Firstly the side sliding door is taken off the vehicle and all changeable parts removed from it. Door handles, locking mechanisms etc will be fitted to the new door once this arrives at Scratchmaster. Replacement parts are only supplied in primer so the inside of the replacement door needs painting before we can re-fit any parts from the old door.
The damaged sill section is taken off the vehicle by drilling away any rivets and we use an air chisel to finish its removal.
The area is then cleaned thoroughly.
The new sill section is matched to the previously damaged area and welded into place. Any gaps are sorted and finished off with an adhesive sealant.
The repaired area is then primed and prepared for painting.
Once the sill repair is painted we return our attention to the door.
After the new door has been painted internally we hang it back on the van. The mechanisms (central locking etc) are checked and the side of the van is then re-painted.
At Scratchmaster we usually re-paint the whole side to guarantee a perfect colour match to the newly painted door.
Attach new side trims to finish off and away she goes..Nice job boys.
