This vehicle had various damages to both rear doors but especially the off side rear.
Usually we would replace this door with new but as they are so expensive our customer asked us to do whatever we could to repair the existing damaged door.
After much head scratching (and a little bit of moaning from the staff) we set to work trying to straighten out the frame of the door. The whole door was twisted and hinges were strained.
After a lot of swearing, and some minor fallings out, we were there, the door was at least straight. Now we knew that we could save it and that we could set about repairing the dents and misshapen panel.
A few hours of tedious panel beating and repair later we were ready to prime.
After using our colour spectro camera to determine the best possible colour match off we happily went off to paint the rear doors.
A quick flat and polish and a couple of new badges and the job looks fantastic.
* Just a note to say that we always consider the economics of new panels v repair...
Sometimes new panels are the "way to go" but sometimes not. Replacement (rather than repaired) panels can be inexpensive to purchase initially but they can add extra work:
• Changing over of locks, glass, various fittings.
• Painting the panel and adjacent panels for colour match reasons.
• The cost of the panel.
